The is governed by a Board of Directors who volunteer their time and energy to promote the organization and its projects. The ’s fundraiser, the Nostalgia Night film series, is an annual event. Monies raised through this event provide library upgrades and projects that would not otherwise be possible. The Friends organization has made possible the library’s very popular reading area, “downtime” which houses current magazines, books, newspapers; and comfortable furniture. The library’s electronic learning center was provided by the Friends. This area is furnished with a large LCD television and an electronic whiteboard. The busy area is used for group study, library instruction, and classroom presentations as well as special events, viewing breaking news and sporting events. The original 1960s furnishings have been replaced with new tables and chairs purchased by The . The Friends have provided a very popular DVD collection; these DVDs are available for check-out, providing students with a much appreciated chance to take a break from study. At the beginning of each semester, new students and employees are welcomed with bags containing information about the library and some special treats, courtesy of The Friends organization. State-of-the-art microform scanning equipment is available at Devereaux Library thanks to the Friends. A recent addition to the library is a permanent display of the original engineering drawing of the historic “Crouch Line” railroad. This drawing was made by School of Mines’ Professor Broughton in 1891 and gifted to the school in the 1970s; the commissioned a custom made display case for this historic drawing. The huge drawing, more than 30 feet long, is now handsomely displayed and available to researchers and historians. Interested in joining us ? We'd love to have you as a member!
